Biography of Miss Sinergy 2011, Megan McConville

Miss Megan McConville was crowned Miss Sinergy 2011 . On Saturday, October 16th Megan competed against 19 other hopeful’s coming from as close as here in the District to as far as Indonesia all seeking the top title. The spirited competition took place at the prestigious House of Sweden overlooking the Georgetown Waterfront and featured entertainment from well known D.C. area magician Josh Norris. The judging panel included former “Project Runway” cast member Emmett McCarthy, Katherine Kennedy of Blonde Mafia Charities, Miss Universe Sweden, Renate Cerljen and others.



The 2011 Miss Sinergy will spend her reign as an ambassador touring with “The Small Victories Projects” for ten planned events in countries all over world to raise awareness for breast cancer, promote self confidence among women, oversee well water projects in developing countries and more.

Biography of Megan McConville Miss Sinergy 2011:

Megan McConville is a 23-year-old graduate of George Mason University. At Mason, Megan graduated with a B.S. in Health and Human Services with a concentration in Community Health. As a global nomad Megan spent the majority of her life traveling the globe with her family. She spent her early childhood growing up in Nigeria and South Africa, and her her middle school and early high school years in Indonesia. After the September 11 attacks, Megan moved back to Northern Virginia where she attended Westfield high school where she was active in peer mediation and Bulldog Track & Field. In college, Megan was a member of the GMU Women’s track team, was active in the Leadership, Education, and Development office, assistant coached the Mason Life Special Olympics team, was a resident advisor, and an active member of the Chi Omega fraternity.

Megan was inspired to participate in the Miss Sinergy pageant for the opportunity to be a charitable ambassador and raise awareness about participation in volunteer and community events right here in her backyard! After graduating college her mother gave her a plaque that stated “I’m convinced that given a cape and a nice tiara I can change the world”. It was the knowledge of having the right resources and a little bit of sparkle that truly motivated Megan to participate in this opportunity.

Megan’s past philanthropic work has been very widespread. Living overseas provided the opportunity to be active in local orphanages and soup kitchens in an attempt to provide services to global youth. Since then Megan has been active with; Big Brothers Big Sisters, Special Olympics, and Northern Virginia Therapeutic Riding Program. She has also participated in events that support The Make a Wish Foundation, Relay for life, LIVEstrong, and Eunice K. Shriver. Megan currently works for a non profit organization that advocates for finding forever families for orphans and vulnerable children throughout the world.
